Craft Service

I am a huge movie fanatic , so I know I wanted to do more than one film for this challenge ( too many practiced 1 this twelvemonth ! ) … Inspired by the hilarious s%^$ Proto-Indo European from “ The Help ” , I decided to create new posters for each of the movies featuring a specific meal or solid food that was somehow related to the film .

chance are , if you have n’t seen the photographic film , you most likely wo n’t get them .

To resemble the cinematography of the original motion-picture show , I used the “ match colour ” function in Photoshop to enforce the vividness from the motion-picture show poster ( or a specific tantrum ) to my intellectual nourishment shot . I also played with allowance and added the logos in Photoshop .

Burning Blade Tavern Epic Universe

Random fun ( and distressing ) fact : Most of the food in these shots end up inedible … For example , the hot dogs were remote ( in very stale weather ) for a while , so they got frozen and stale … The cream in the “ Help ” pie terminate up melt , and so did the descendants trash cream … ultimately , the girl with the dragon tattoo ramen was $ 1.59 … which is in itself problematic . Canon T2i , 100 mm lens , f2.8 + Photoshop .

Drive

My girlfriend and I late saw Drive and were impressed by the way the lighting in the cinema was used to absorb out Ryan Gosling ’s emotions and inside conflicts . I reckon that without this effect the film would have been very unlike and believably not even deserving seeing . The natural sunlight made the pellet quick and ( for us ) more consoling , suggest that behind all of Gosling ’s character ’s jadedness and cool there is a hint of whiteness that he ’d like to retrieve , but obviously can not .

We were going to do a scene re - creation of The Artist , but it just did n’t work out for us . As we were preparing for the shoot , I noticed that there was a hatful of sunshine coming from our apartment windowpane . the Dominicus was setting and its rumination was being bounced off a window across the street and hitting my way at full blast . We decided to take a few word picture that attempt to capture this aspect of Drive . Among the 7 shots , the one I ’m sending you is the best . That ’s me in the photo looking forlorn and my lady friend behind the camera .

For this shot we used a Nikon D60 with AF - S Nikkor 135 millimeter lens . The bloodless residual was set to Shade mode and ISO was on auto . We were focusing manually .

Beginners

I picked the film Beginners ! enceinte film and my relationship with my hound is kind of like the one in the cinema so that is why I go with a frame from this picture . Good movie ! So what we did to get this double was pretty hilarious . First of my dog ( Picasso ) has all the energy in the world and it took forever to even get him to stay on the terrace . The bench that did nt exist in that literal spot . I really like the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and the tripping germ above them , so we decided to bring in the bench . By bringing in the workbench , I think taking it from a locked gated area in the car park , carrying it over the fence and lift it to the placement in the picture . So in all honestly I merit the honor for “ good endeavor ” and “ expert story ” . We carried a cementum work bench over a gate and had a very fluid dog . So that s my floor ! haha I used a Canon 60D with a loud stock lens . It was shot at 1600 ISO . F4 with a 1/10 shutter speed . I take a chance on the slow shutter speed . I did not desire to get any more cereal by changing the ISO . My roomy was the gift along with Picasso ! Enjoy ! Here is a tie-in to theimage .

Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows

I had a few ideas for this motion-picture show and this one seek to wrick out the best although another idea was much more preferable it just did n’t depend right . The photo was setup with a hodgepodge of parts . I used a turtle relish lamp about 10 feet across the elbow room , a 18″ tall Eiffel Tower , and a Facebook solicited top lid and pipe which surprisingly a friend actually had ! The lamp had just enough light source to cast the silhouette of me and the Eiffel tower on the wall . Lightroom was used to make the photo dim and white and a small readjustment to the picture and blacks to have the tincture define just a bit more . Previous attempts were taken with tripod which and it is extremely hard to get the right shadow visibility by myself so ended up having my married woman help with taking the photo so it was a collaborative effort !

The photograph is pretty self - explanatory , Sherlocks Holmes in Paris for most of the 2nd movie and depicted by shadow for Sherlock Holmes : Game of Shadows . It might not attend like a photo , but it truly is a photo of the shadows 🙂

The Help

This pic is supposed to be a recreation from a scene from“The Help ” . manifestly it is not as accurate as a perfectionist like me would desire but you got to make the most of what you had . I curled my hair to mime the disturbed curly hair Skeeter had in the movie . My typewriter is much onetime than the LX but once again , I worked with what I had . I used a Sony a330 . My boyfriend really took the shot for me so I ’m not sure of the specifications .

Moneyball

I had tons of dissimilar idea for this week dispute from burgeon forth dragons in Chinatown during their Year of the Dragon celebration ( Girl in the Dragon Tattoo ) to taking a video of a coin flipping ( 50/50 ) but I really love baseball game so I select Moneyball as the movie to base a photo on . Another affair I really enjoy is mystifier . I have this 3D puzzle of a baseball game on my dwelling office desk which I wanted to utilize in a photo . I ring it with money and started take photos of it in one guidance . I decided to switch focussing . After get one photo in a new commission I realized my blue Dodgers sweater which was position on the couch made it into my exposure . It was just random luck that it was there . I decided it would be a great item to aim in the background and moved it somewhat so that more of it would make the shot . Nikon D3100 , 18 - 55 mm 1:3.5 - 5.6 g-force lens , f/13 , 10 sec exposure time , ISO-100 .

Kung Fu Panda 2

As a parent of a 3 and 5 year old , I do n’t make it to the picture show very often . I have n’t seen any of the movies up for Best Picture but I was able to enjoy a family night out at the theater with a showing of “ Kung Fu Panda 2 , ” up for Best Animated Film . We enjoyed the motion-picture show immensely and I was strike by the awe-inspiring visuals , whether CGI or during the paper - style animation flashback scene , throughout the film . My crack is of Po ( my Logos ’s well-chosen repast toy ) in front of a report background with some paper cutouts I lend . I backlit the exposure with a desk lamp in an endeavor to give the panda a niggling less toy tactile property . Hope you like it . canyon EOS REBEL T1i , Canon EF - S 18 - 55 mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS , 3.2 , f/14 , ISO 100

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

One of my favorite moving picture of 2011 was the adaptation of Tinker , Tailor , Soldier , Spy . Throughout the film , allusion are made to the unfaithfulness of George Smiley ’s married woman , Anne . She is mostly control in glimpses , or name by other characters . While not trying to make Anne into a sympathetic eccentric , I could n’t help imagining biography being wed to George – the never knowing where your hubby is , what form of risk he might be in , and when he might refund . The celluloid does a frightful line of work of illustrating the loneliness of its spy , but my photograph imagines the desolation of those who love them . Here , Anne has wake up , as she undoubtedly did many nights , alone in bed . Perhaps go for to catch a glimpse of George ’s divergence , or his issue , she stands and gazes out the window . I used a naughty filter and gentle direction , as so much of the pic deals with ambiguities , both moral and otherwise .

The Descendants

My favorite movie this retiring year was The Descendants . The director is Alexander Payne who was nominate as best director , and George Clooney as practiced thespian , and I hope they both win . Alexander Payne was also nominated in 2005 for another motion-picture show I thought was terrific , Sideways , and he win for best screenplay that year . Alexander Payne is a exceptional endowment so i took the shore leave of shooting a shot in homage to a current oscar nominee and his premature Academy Award win and hope you do n’t mind my taking this liberty . I thought of charter a photo of a pineapple for the movie snap in Hawaii , The posterity , but figured I could do a good job of take on a wine photo for Payne ’s late oscar achiever Sideways . ( I had the vino , did n’t have a pineapple ) I took the barb with a Sony NEX7 and a Nikon 50 mm 1.2 AIS genus Lens , shoot wide open , ISO 500 and shutter speed 1/60 . The hands belong to my son ’s girlfriend . We drink the wine and utter about movies and got to thinking about your contest and somehow figured this would work . Hope you accept it .

Hugo

This calendar week ’s challenge was extra challenging for the dim-witted grounds that I have n’t watch any of the moving picture that are propose except for Hugo . So rather , I went for one that is not put up but that I enjoyed hugely – Sherlock Holmes : The Game of Shadows . I have to say that my husband was the master chef for this one . I chose the scene and posed but he took the pic and put them together for the last figure of speech .

Husband here . This is a composite of three mental image : some trees from the park in the Hill behind us ; a shuddery look wife with kitchen tongue ; and , most fun , throwing tan bark in the air to get the motion effect at the bottom . All merged together in Pixelmator .

I dead LOVED “ Hugo ” – especially learning about Méliès . I am lucky because I got to see the motion picture at the Alamo Drafthouse and there was a short ton of pre - show footage . This image is an court to “ Hugo , ” but really it is finally an homage to Méliès . Martin Scorsese deserves the Oscar for this 😉

The moonlight pic is mine ( drive 01/26/12 – f/5.8 , ISO-80 , 1/30 sec ) . The endearing dame is from stock by rachellcoe.deviantart.com .

Source Code

Working in the software industry , you expend more than a third of your mean solar day glued in front of the proctor , seek to make common sense out of ‘ for ’s and ‘ if ’s . And then there are those jailbreak after every couple of hours , when you flip to Gizmodo and control which company is suing which other party over patent infraction .

And then there are those Shooting Challenges posts which you look forrard to , every calendar week .

As soon as I read about the challenge , I started remember all the movies I had check in the past year , right from the The Mechanic to Sherlock . And after 10 odd minutes of pondering , I think why make something good out of work I do .

Galaxy S25

I wrote a minuscule piece of a code , the ubiquitous “ Hello World ” program , and named the grade as Source Code . A court not only a adept picture show from the past year , but also to all those coders who jump off any nomenclature with the same “ Hello World ” . Shot using Canon 1100D. f/4.5 , 1/10 sec , ISO-200
