Efron plays the role ofKevin Von Erichin the movie, which tells the story of the “rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day,” per its official tagline.
Five out of six brothers in the Von Erich family suffered from a series of accidents and deaths, which became known as the “Von Erich curse.” Kevin, now 66,is the only brotherinThe Iron Clawmovie who is still alive today.

Kevin joked to PEOPLE at the film’s world premiere in Dallas in November 2023 thatEfron “had a tough job. It’s not easy to be me.”
An actor portraying a wrestler with decades of experience means “a whole lot to cram into a movie,” he added, but Efron “was able to do it … he’s a real star.”
