NASA Helped build up the Battle School ( kind of )

Avatar Stunt Genius Garrett Warren Dreamed Up The Battle Room Scenes
How do you fritter in Zero gramme correct scenes , starring CHILDREN , on Earth ? This is probably the most discussed aspect to Ender ’s Game . If the Battle Room scenes suck , this movie will break down . It is really and really the most significant part of the volume . Full disclosure , I in person did NOT get to see any finished footage of the kids in action at law in the Battle Room . However , I did get to see a very large chunk of test footage with the actors and the cast of Cirque du Soleil potash alum ( specifically from the Vegas show Le Reve ) in action at law . From that very early footage I could tell that the Zero gm glide that audiences will be looking for is entire . It feels obtuse and deliberate like one would have a bun in the oven space weightlessness to come along . I ’m exceedingly bright for these present moment .
Devils In the Details
The devotion to detail in this movie is ludicrous .
Everything that could be made with 3D printers , was . Because the hereafter is now ! Broken name tag ( WITH BRAILLE ) were recreated using the 3D printer , helmet bits were printed , gas newsflash gun handles were create , and more . If you look closely you’re able to see that inside Ender ’s way is a 3D printer .
Die hard fans might note that the Battle School looks different in this movie rendering , and instead of have 5 rooms there ’s only one , but it ’s a bad fanny one . observe that in the trailer the shoal rotates to keep the gravity in the living quarters . Greening up all the homeworld pellet , production designers Sean Haworth & Ben Procter foreground the message that “ Earth is a place deserving fighting for . ”
Setting the future in a “ post oil economy , ” the designers imagine the Wiggin household as a strong invite place with just slight touch of futurism . remember the AI household but with more ivy and green works . All of the humans are dressed in soft whole step and comforting vogue . Any outdoor shots were bath in gold hour light , unripened Hill or position by a lake side ( where Ender and Valentine have their schmoose ) . This way , ( they hope ) audiences commiserate with the homesick kids who are jettisoned to the Battle School which was also described as a “ steel coffin in space . ”
This Alien World is Gorgeous
Perhaps the most exciting , and surprising reveal was the aid and detail Hood and company take into develop the Formic acculturation . If you ’ve read the book you know that part of the novel is set on Eros , a Formic major planet finally catch by the man [ EDIT this was in the beginning an asteroid in the Koran , it ’s been expand in the film for shorten the story ] . Giant Formic “ skyscrapers ” jut out across this reddish major planet . To make this facial expression , designers Procter and Haworth hit the books how termite mounds employment , and replicate the temperature - controlling spheres that are seen in nature on Eros . The whole musical theme was that while a few spheres would stick out from the major planet ’s crust , they were just a tip of the iceberg .

I must have watched this genus Pan - in on Harrison Ford 300 times , but one can never get world-weary take in Han Solo emote whilst affect to be on an alien planet . Casting Ford as Graff was a masterstroke — and by God , was he a gruff Graff . We watched a scene where Graff looks out his Formic bunker window and growled about the oncoming battle . I do n’t really recall what he was read , but I remember being utterly terrified for anyone who had to walk into that room with him , because that ’s INDIANA JONES . particularly when he mess up his lines and got mad . That was awe-inspiring .
Look , of all the times I ’ve seen an adult male stare out of a fake windowpane with the phony weightiness of the humans on his shoulders , Harrison Ford did it the best .
No Gratuitous Alien shot
The light-headed - handed Formic teasery is one of the with child thing about Ender ’s Game . There ’s no HOLY CRAP ALIEN sloshed shots with KY Jelly spewing mouths and “ kill ’em all ” war scream ( no that there ’s anything faulty with that ) . This deep race was care with a draw of smoking and mirrors in the novel .
Which is why I was very excited to listen that one shot , in particular , had been burn . While playing with the props , one crew fellow member revealed that there was a whole Independence Day shot where a downed Formic ship was popped exposed , and the Formic extraterrestrial was ripped out and killed . Thus exposing the Formic form clean ahead of time on in the film . It did n’t make the last cut — and in reality , I do n’t even know if it was shoot at all . Either means it was cut .
or else the audience will deal with the slow burn mark only perplex shots of Formic ships and structure at first . Will you get to eventually see a Formic , of course , but I ’m not going to spoil it for you .
NO 3D ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Praise the holy sky wolf , the production company could just not afford to dart this in 3D. Thank you ! Hood consider 3D , but went with the more “ pure and honorable ” take of 2D. Whatever the understanding , I ’m just glad I do n’t have to put on another hardening of crappy theatre crank .
