A manhunt was in progress for his captureafter he allegedly fatally shot a San Antonio police officer. But hours before his arrest, Otis Tyrone McKane made a trip to the Bexar County Courthouse — to get married.
San Antonio police said Marconi, 50, was writing out a ticket in his patrol vehicle at around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday when the gunman they believe to be McKane allegedly drove up beside him in a black car and fired two shots into the vehicle — striking Marconi in the head.
McKane allegedly fled the scene and Marconi was pronounced dead later at a hospital.

McKane was arrested on Monday afternoon driving a vehicle on Interstate 10 at around 4:20 p.m., the San Antonio Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE. Video of McKane following his arrest was posted to their official Facebook account.
Fields and an unidentified 2-year-old child were in the car at the time of the arrest,Mysanantonio.com reported, though police did not confirm that to PEOPLE.
According to the marriage license, Fields was born in Houston and is 27 years old.

As he walked past camera crews for booking on Monday, McKane told reporters he was upset over a child custody battle.

McManus described Marconi as a 20-year veteran of the department and Roy Naylor, a former colleague of Marconi’s, toldNBC Newsthat Marconi was a sex crimes detective who “excelled” at his work.
“He was a great father, he was a great officer,” Naylor told NBC, adding that Marconi had two children from past marriages as well as grandchildren.

Of the shootings, McManus said, “I feel they were targeted.”
