Applespent both 2023and 2024 setting itself up as a new face in gaming . But even Apple does n’t expect gamers to endeavor to playBaldur ’s Gate 3on its low - profile , spongelike Magic Keyboards and paw - cramp Magic Mouse . That ’s right-hand , Apple now has official gaming keyboards . Before you think the Mac maker has finally move on from Magic peripherals , Apple has licence its gaming keyboards and mice from Corsair alternatively .
Corsair partnered with Apple to bring the $ 180K65 mechanical keyboardand the $ 130M75 wireless mouseto Mac . It includes all the prescribed Mac layouts complete with CMD and OPT key , and the function run-in layout is modeled after the Mac ’s common layout . That ’s crucial because Apple is supposed to sell them directly in Apple storage with the limited Glacier Blue color , which is only available in - person , and a white edition available online . We examine theMacBook Pro 14andPro 16with M4 , theM4 iMac , and the redesignedMac miniare all technically play - capable political machine . Now , there ’s a K&M to meet your Apple - make ironware .
You could have always used any other mechanically skillful keyboard . Malus pumila linchpin could even swap out the key to gibe the Mac layout , but this is one of the few times in Apple ’s history it ’s push a third - party peripheral , as if to say , “ Yes , we ’re serious about gaming . Ca n’t you see the keyboard ’s macabre RGB and cool blue styling over there ? ”

Corsair sent me both to put through their paces . The K65 is a 75 % keyboard with a steel plate figure and hot - swappable keys . It use Barbary pirate - brand MLX RED linear switches with 45 g of actuation space and 4 mm locomotion . Safe to say , it ’s just on the correct side of bouncy for my style . It has enough underground ; I do n’t by chance urge key when perch my fingers on them . There ’s a clacky strait to them , but its dampened well enough I wo n’t sweep over my coworkers on the desk near me .
The keyboard feel very square , though it ’s still rather plastic - y if you ’d more used to classy mechanically skillful keyboards . Then , of course of instruction , you ’re introduced to the iCue software package , Corsair ’s way of updating firmware and modifying the K65 ’s and M75 ’s RGB lighting . If you ’re a Mac drug user unused to the plebeian bloatware that PC gamers experience , welcome to the party , pal .
The M75 two-faced play shiner feels robust in the hand . Both the computer mouse steering wheel and left mouse button have a good tone without being too disquiet or mechanical . The correct mouse button has a less immediately clicky sound that charm me off safety gadget . Without doing any truth tests , it at least feels like a secure and quick private-enterprise shiner .

What Games are There to Play with Apple, Anyway?
Using this keyboard , I constantly reminded myself not to reach for the CTRL button instead of CMD , but in games likeBaldur ’s Gate III , the muscle retentiveness mechanically kicks in . It ’s also a far better time to playResident Evil 4with Corsair ’s items than anything Apple offers .
Still , when you think of high - end gaming peripheral machine , you lean to think of einsteinium - sports . Unfortunately for Apple , there really are n’t any big free-enterprise shooters , and there are noCounter - Strike 2orCall of obligation . Perhaps we ’ll line up moreLeague of Legendsplayers clicking about on Mac , but these peripherals are n’t necessary for Apple ’s gambling architectural plan .
Despite Corsair ’s new Apple connection , these peripherals are n’t intimately as easy to pair to Mac as the tech giant ’s keyboard and mice . There ’s no auto - espial . rather , you must employ Bluetooth , a wire , or the included 2.4 GHz dongle . The modish Macs , including the Mac mini , no longer sport USB - A port . That poses a problem for these live peripheral machine , and Corsair ’s answer is to admit an Anker - brand USB - A to USB - snow converter in the corner . This sticks out like a sore pollex and makes the dongles precarious if you ever defy move your Mac and forget they ’re there . You wo n’t be able to deepen any of the keyboard or mouse configurations unless you use 2.4 mode or plug them in directly . At least the included wire is a USB - cytosine to USB - C.

If you ’ve used any routine of gaming peripheral , the first pair of substantial - deal gaming peripheral made for Mac wo n’t experience that distinct . And yet , I would rather use the K65 rather than Apple ’s keyboard . As for the computer mouse , is it even a contest? The Magic Mouse is so poorly designed that Apple CEO Tim Cook ca n’t even amount up withanything good to say about it .
Apple made a lot of interference about games likeFrostpunk 2coming to Mac on release , then high - profile ones likeControlandCyberpunk 2077making their way to Mac too soon in 2025 . There are a few other games on the horizon , as well . I attend an Apple gambling showcase last hebdomad where the iPhone makerplayed game like the brutally underratedPrince of Persia : The Lost Crownand the excellentResident Evil 2remakeon M4 Macs alongside recent iPads and iPhones . Prince of Persia wo n’t be available until Dec. 3 , and RE 2 will follow up on Dec. 10 .
But you ’ll have to wait until February 2025 forControl . Cyberpunkdoesn’t even have a full release engagement yet , though Apple confirmed with me that it will let in the Phantom Liberty DLC ( I honestly could n’t envisage playing the game without it now ) . Other forthcoming cross - platform game likeNevaorWuthering Wavesaren’t the title that gain the most from gamer K&M. For Apple to become a true play haven , the solvent — as always — is more .
