Ariana Grandejust said “thank u, next” to the Grammys.
The “Breathin” singer has confirmedshe will not be attending the Grammysover a disagreement with producer Ken Ehrlich and his team.
On Thursday the pop star — who isnominated for two awardsand was expected to perform — broke her silence about the Grammys in a string of strongly worded tweets.
First, Grande, 25, shared a screenshot of anAssociated Press storyin which Ehrlich said Grande, after a month of negotiating, “felt it was too late for her to pull something together” for the show, which is broadcast live Sunday in L.A.
Ehrlich’s AP statement didn’t sit well with the former child star, who unleashed her side of the story online.

“mhmmm here it is ! “’too late for her to pull something together……'” Grande tweeted.
“i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me,” Grande added.

In the months leading up to the Grammys, the Recording Academy had been using Grande’s image to promote the show — and the singer said she “passed a Grammy’s bus with my face on it typing those” tweets.
“hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgment this year,” she added, before sharing a teaser promoting her new albumthank u, next, which drops at midnight.
The Recording Academy did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Thursday afternoon, the AP ran its statement from Ehrlich, who said producers had been having “conversations over the past month or so” with Grande, adding: “As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure. … And it’s too bad. She’s a great artist. And I’d love to get her in the show this year.”
