With all the talk of the impending Revelation of Saint John the Divine , be it Mayan - related , economy - relate , or zombi - link up , there ’s no famine of citizenry creating artistic weapons system , vehicles , and bomb shelters to avail the doomsday - minded out - prep their neighbors . But at long last , someone has answer that burn question : On the daylight after , where will you get a swallow ?
Artist Adam Chilson set out to answer that question , by creating the ultimate post - apocalyptic backyard bar . build by Tennessean and friends from a combination of scrap metallic element and car parts , the cake is long-lasting , usable , and Mad Max - beautiful . In fact , the whole creation was inspired by the “ Atomic Cafe ” in the moving-picture show Mad Max : Beyond Thunderdome . ( The sign over this version is a drained ringer for the one in that plastic film , but everything else is an original design ) .
The bar has all the modern conveniences you ’d require in a post - apocalyptic watering hole : Car hood that double as awning , saloon - style doors from a ’ 65 Chevy pickup , a camber of car stamp battery powering up the “ high-pitched voltage ” bulwark of wire and self-propelling light ( though the existent exponent come from a hidden generator ) , a back measure cast anchor by the splasher of a GMC flatbed truck ( with working radio ) , a lavation station that ’s desert - ready ( thanks to a sobriety - fed sink hooked up to water privy ) , and a menu of signature cocktails with everything from a Glowjito to Atomic Sake Bombs .
The saloon was of late fight - test at a private political party , but will make its public debut at Wasteland Weekend in the Mojave desert on September 27th , 2012 .
