Margaret Atwood ’s The Handmaid ’s Tale end on a major cliffhanger : Offred heads willingly into a black police van , uncertain of her fate . She will either be arrested for treason , or smuggled to safety equipment . The Hulu serial may have ended its first season the same way , but since we ’re lead into season two , we know there ’s more story to tell . We ’re still being kept in the dark about the conclusion of season one ’s cliffhanger , but the actor may have spilled the bean about where Offred ( Elisabeth Moss ) will end up .

speak at PaleyFest , several of the actors share new details about what their character would be up to in time of year two . In our bank line of workplace we often expect marketing to give away a certain grade of the story to lure audience in but regardless , the actors ’ revelations were a bit surprising . The most interesting revealing came from Ann Dowd , who fiddle Aunt Lydia . allot toDeadline , Dowd divvy up how her character is lash out against Offred , who ’s becoming more and more rebellious , but Aunt Lydia has to hold back her biliousness because Offred is expect a minor . Given how Yvonne Strahovski also revealed on the dialog box that Serena Joy and Commander Waterford ( Joseph Fiennes ) will share a “ common front against Offred , ” this indicate she ’s still very much a part of their lives .
“ The one matter that [ Serena ] wants is that baby — that is her bully survival of the fittest mechanism in a world where she , too , is challenge and does n’t have much of a vocalism , either , ” Strahovski saidduring the panel .
Seems more than probable that Offred was n’t successfully taken to Mayday main office and instead got apprehended and punished … only to be spared because she ’s expecting a baby . This matches footage seen in the trailer of Offred frolic the same laugh Ofglen ( Alexis Bledel ) wore during her trial — something I ’d terminate as a possible incubus sequence used in the trailer to bull us out .
Of course , all of this does n’t mean Mayday was n’t trying to help Offred . It ’s possible she was being smuggled to safety but was by and by capture and brought back to the Waterford abidance . However , I tend to believe that she really was being taken into custody , because Nick ( Max Minghella ) is full of dirt and ca n’t be trusted .
