Late last week , 11 Asian elephants at Cambodia ’s Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary ambled into a clay - filled bomb volcanic crater that dates back to the Vietnam War . Unable to get out , and with the clay quickly drying , the elephants ’ situation become dire — prompting preservation officials to spring into action .

Asreportedyesterday by the Wildlife Conservation Society ( WCS ) , the muddle ’s 10 - foot walls were too gamey for the elephants to scale . They run in to take a bathroom , and ended up stuck in a mud - occupy death trap . As they fight to get out , and as the clay began to dry , the elephants became progressively entrenched . It was like some sort of prehistoric scene when creatures fell victim to tar pit .

Over the age , local husbandman had enlarged the gob and used it to store water system . When they break the elephants , the Farmer called the Department of Environment , who in turn send word the WCS to mount a deliverance .

The rescuer delivered food and piss to the elephant while a makeshift ramp was constructed . After several hours , 10 of the 11 elephants had managed to rise up the ramp and leave the muddle of their own accordance . The last elephant struggled to get out , and had to be rive out by a rope . The sense of relief among the rescued elephants is palpable in the TV claim of the rescue .

“ This is a gravid example of everyone form together in Cambodia to save wildlife , ” order Dr Ross Sinclair , WCS Country Director , in a outlet . “ Too often the chronicle around preservation are about conflict and failure , but this is one about cooperation and achiever . ”

The Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary , which encompasses 292,690 hectare , is one of the most significant habitats for Asian elephants in Cambodia . The protected area is also home to more than 60 species of animal and plants on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature ’s Red List that are imperil with extermination .
