As the DVD data formatting become elderly more and more people are talking about what is go to take its piazza . I personally do n’t conceive DVD as a media will be get “ former ” anytime presently – but since when did my view matter ? [ Excellent point in time . -ed . ]
Most hoi polloi involved in the debate finger that one of two next - generation ocular media types will supplant DVD – either HD DVD ( for “ High Definition DVD , ” or Blu - Ray ( which somehow ends up being a “ BD - ROM ” ) . Since Sony ( among others ) has already restfully publish Blu - Ray devices to the populace , and announce that the Playstation 3 will apply Blu - Ray , we can well see that Sony is open up the format , and likely the one with the most proverbial ass on the line . I could go into the specifications of each data format more , but that ’s what Google is for , slack .
All this is to say , when you hear an announcement about Blu - Ray , do n’t expect an announcement about HD videodisk to be far behind . In fact , today see both announcement .

First of all , Sony has announced they ’ve successfully employed “ Phase Transition Mastering ” technology in the production of Blu - Ray discs . What does this think ? tenacious story unforesightful , their unexampled PTR-3000 disc production automobile pictured here can now farm BD - read-only storage in half the time it used to take ; and the machine is 20 % the size of previous models . Hopefully this will translate into saving somewhere , at least for Sony .
And oh look , an HD DVD announcement far behind . Sanyo Corporation has announced that they ’ll be jump on the HD - DVD bandwagon – a format presently being pushed by NEC and Toshiba . Sanyo has say the ship’s company will release HD DVD player in Fall of 2005 .
