“I love a good rom-com so when i saw@katherineheigl, I knew IMMEDIATELY there was one song to end the night and one song only….#IYKYK#27dresses,” he wrote in the caption of a carousel of photos and video from the party.
In the27 Dressesscene from 2008, Jane Nichols and her eventual love interest Kevin Doyle (James Marsden) bond over their love of “Benny and the Jets” at a bar, laughing about the fact that Jane once misheard the lyrics “she’s got electric boots” as “she’s got electric boobs.”
Eventually, the couple dances so shamelessly to the song that they attract the attention of every bar patron. They shut down the bar much like Heigl shut down the party.
The film’s title comes from the fact that Jane had been a bridesmaid in 27 weddings and had 27 hideous dresses to prove it. She’s the epitome of the phrase “always a bridesmaid, never a bride,” and Kevin wants to write a story about her… but things get complicated when they fall in love.
