Trevor Noahis kicking off music’s biggest night!
“This moment right here — you know what that means?” Noah said as Streep made her way to her seat. “It means the Grammys is gonna win an Oscar. Yeah. I don’t know how but we just did it,” he joked after calling her “one of the greatest Meryl Streeps of all time.”
Another late arrival:Taylor Swift, who could make Grammy history with a potential album of the year win. As she made her way across the room, Noah took the opportunity to talk aboutrecent reportson the singer’s impact on the economy.
“Are you seeing what’s happening right now as Taylor Swift moves through the room?” Noah asked the crowd. “The local economy around those tables improves. Can you see you get this magic right now? Look at this magic. Lionel Richie, now Lionel Wealthy. Look at that.”

He also poked fun at the camera time Swift gets at NFL games, where she cheers on boyfriendTravis Kelce. Noah joked that every time the “Lavender Haze” singer is mentioned throughout the night, the cameras will show someone else — who plays football.
“I think it is so unfair how NFL fans have been complaining about the cameras cutting to Taylor Swift? Right? Like she’s controlling the cameras at the games,” he said.
He went on to say, “I’m gonna get revenge. Every time someone says Taylor Swift. I’m going to cut the cameras to someone who plays football,” as the cameras panned toTerry Crews.

In addition to his hosting duties, Noah received a nomination in the best comedy album category this year for his specialI Wish You Would. He spoke about the honor — his second Grammy nomination — in an interview withPEOPLEahead of the ceremony.
“It really is momentous for me because it’s not just about the award or the nomination, it’s about the company that I’m nominated alongside,” he told PEOPLE earlier this month, before expressing admiration for fellow nomineesWanda Sykes,Dave ChappelleandChris Rock.
Noah continued, “I mean, to be in the same category as these people is really something special. It becomes a milestone in my life that reminds me to think more about the process than the outcome. And just to be in this moment, I want to savor it for as long as possible.”
